Focus on: Ceramide

Ceramides occur naturally in our skin. In skin care they are therefore absolutely compatible and also suitable for natural cosmetics. Good skin creams always contain ceramides or stimulate the ceramide synthesis and improve the skin's barrier function. This means: more moisture and more protection for our skin.

The uppermost layer of skin (epidermis) consists up to 60% of Ceramide, a class of fatty acids called lipids that are naturally found in skin cells. Lipids are a group of ingredients that include fats, waxes, oils, some vitamins, and hormones. Ceramides are able to bind together dead skin cells to form a protective barrier - our skin’s natural barrier.

Ceramides help to create a barrier to prevent permeability. They lock moisture into our skin, which help to prevent dryness and irritation. It also help to protect our epidermis from environmental damage.

In order to renew our skin’s natural barrier regularly, new ceramides have to be constantly produced (through ceramide synthesis) in the lower skin layers.

Good skin creams therefore always contain ceramides or stimulate the skin to synthesize ceramides and improve the skin's barrier function. That means: more moisture and more protection for our skin.

Phytosphingosines are an essential component of ceramides; they stimulate ceramide synthesis in the skin, so that new ceramides are formed.

We are happy to present you a selection of Ceramide products ex Solus, Korea (formerly Doosan):

Ceramides are excellent anti-aging ingredients by locking moisture into our skin, that reduces the skin's natural water loss. Fine lines and wrinkles are often more noticeable when skin is dry. Locking in moisture minimize their appearance.

Ceramides also protect the skin as they prevent external factors such as bacteria, viruses and fungi from penetrating the skin - this is particularly important for dry skin and skin diseases such as psoriasis, neurodermatitis and atopic dermatitis.
