Water is the most banal of all cosmetic ingredients. We usually find it as Aqua / Water on the INCI list. The vast majority of our cosmetics contain water as the main ingredient. Water is needed to be able to incorporate water-soluble active ingredients into cosmetics, such as panthenol, glycerine or vitamin C. It is an important component in emulsions and, in conjunction with emulsifiers, serves to distribute nourishing fatty substances (O / W emulsions) in droplets and simplfy their application on the skin. Adding water gives creams a smooth, soft appearance and is usually easier to apply than anhydrous products. However, tap water is not simply used to make cosmetics. This contains two things that we don't want in cosmetics: minerals and microorganisms - which can influence our active ingredients.
